Jury Awards NY Couple Nearly $200,000 For Mold Damage

Recently, an upstate New York jury awarded nearly $200,000 to a couple for the damages that they sustained, including property damage and health problems secondary to mold exposure because the jury concluded that the contractor was negligent in building the house, which caused the mold problems. The plaintiffs claimed that the mold first appeared on the wooden floor joists in the basement, and later spread throughout the basement due to the contractor's negligently designed exterior drainage system, which failed to prevent moisture from infiltrating the basement.
