ACLU Sues After School Teacher Calls Student's Religion "Stupid"

Apparently, at least one public school teacher never got the memo that one of the principal tenets on which this country was founded was - and is - freedom of religion

This teacher took it upon herself to denigrate this child's Buddhist religion as "stupid," and openly chastised this student's religious beliefs before the class - repeatedly. Not surprisingly, this student began to experience negative symptoms associated with stress before and during the school day.

If not for the seriousness of what transpired in this class, it could pass for comical, for the simple reason that this teacher's conduct went so far past the line of propriety.

This is one of those (thankfully) rare circumstances where I think a constitutional claim in a school setting might have some merit.
