Over the weekend, I came across this anti-bullying video that was made by a number of BOCES students at a high school in upstate New York.

It was powerful.

Aside from the sheer courage it took for these teens to openly acknowledge that they are bullied (and that alone is quite impressive), and to express the pain they have felt and challenges they have faced as a result, there is a truly critical component to this video that should not be overlooked:

Several teachers and administrators appear in the video with placards saying "Talk to Me," encouraging students to come forward if they have a problem confronting bullying. In other words, the school is taking a strong stand, and at least going through the right motions of stating that they have an open-door policy for students who are being bullied, to help them in any way they can.

This is an extremely positive step in the right direction.
