1. Secure the product – and its packaging -- in a safe place (and in the same condition) until it can be evaluated by an appropriately qualified expert.
  2. Save all of the product literature, including advertisements, warranties, instructions and warnings that came with the product.  In addition, be sure to maintain all receipts or other proof of purchase of the product.
  3. Call an attorney that has a demonstrated knowledge and proven track record of handling defective products cases; unlike some small accident cases, which can be resolved directly with the insurers, it is highly unlikely that you can successfully resolve a defective products claim directly with the manufacturer or insurer.
