As a New York appeals court noted in Smith v. 125th St. Gateway Ventures, LLC, despite Administrative Code 7-210, which imposes liability on the owners of property abutting a sidewalk to maintain that sidewalk, those property owners are not required to maintain the street signs or sign posts, just as they are not required to maintain tree wells.
