Breach of Oral Contract Lawsuit Against Britney Spears Continues
Posted on Jan 01, 2016
A man who alleges that he was the former manager of pop superstar Britney Spears filed a lawsuit claiming that Spears breached their contract. On October 25th, that man, Sam Lutfi, was grilled on the witness stand by Spears’ legal team. Lutfi alleges that he had a valid contract with Spears, despite the fact that it was not signed by both parties.
Lutfi claims in his lawsuit that under the terms of his contract with Spears, he is entitled to 15 percent of her income under the terms of a multiyear deal. Under cross-examination, however, he admitted that he had never shared that fact with a single friend, colleague, or lawyer. He also did not tell Spears’ entertainment lawyer, Gary Stiffleman. The contract that Lufti presents as evidence is a sample artist-management agreement that he downloaded from the Internet on July 2, 2007. He claims that he used the form as the basis for the oral deal that was struck between the two parties. The form itself was not filled in with any of the information pertaining to the alleged deal.
In addition to the breach of contract action against Spears, Lutfi is also pursuing legal action against the singer’s father, Jamie Spears, and her mother, Lynne Spears. Lutfi’s claim against Jamie Spears alleges physical assault after Jamie Spears supposedly punched Lutfi in early 2008. The claim against Lynne Spears alleges that she committed defamation against Lutfi in her book “Through the Storm.”
