Last week, the Consumer Products Safety Commission issued a recall of nearly 100,000 Kidde smoke alarms after discovering that the Model PI2000 was a defective product and a safety hazard because it would likely not sound in the event of a fire.

According to the CPSC, those who have purchased these defective products can contact Kidde directly to obtain a replacement smoke alarm.
