A fascinating new study that was reported on in The New York Times found that in car accidents across the country, children were almost two times more likely to suffer injuries in a car accident when their parents were driving, as compared to if their grandparents were driving.

Not surprisingly, the study apparently did not arrive at any conclusive reason for this discrepancy. Stated differently, they just don't know why the numbers were so starkly different.

That's not to say that theories don't abound, such as cell phone use or texting while driving.

If you are interested in obtaining more information on the study, it appears in August's issue of the periodical journal Pediatrics.
